France is famous for numerous things: art, pastries, wine, cheese, and cosmetics. Their expertise in beauty include perfumery and skin care. That being said, I trust French beauty brands and like trying new products every time I visit. I bought a few (okay a lot) of products that I can’t wait to share with you.
I categorized the products according to where I purchased them from. I purchased the products below from a pharmacy called CityPharma. I love French pharmacies because you can find a variety of skin care brands along with your other pharmacy needs. It’s fun to browse through and speak to the pharmacists about which products they’d recommend for you. CityPharma is one of the most well-known pharmacies, and it was no surprise how busy it was when I got there. People were grabbing products from every aisle. That just shows how much people are obsessed with French skin care!
1- Essie All In One – This is base coat, top coat and strengthener. I purchased this product because I had forgotten to pack a base coat.
2- Edenens Lavender Cleansing Gel – I purchased this product because I hadn’t packed a facial cleanser. I only used it during my trip and didn’t notice a difference in my skin.
3- La Roche-Posay Serozinc – This product has become a cult favorite. Every beauty guru has been raving about this product. It’s a zinc sulfate cleansing and soothing solution. It is a refreshing spray that is used as a toner. Beauty gurus have stated that this product is great for preventing breakouts. I snatched the last two bottles!
4- Phyto Densifying Treatment Shampoo – I was looking for a detoxifying shampoo from this brand, but it was out of stock. The pharmacist recommended this shampoo for me because it claims to strengthen thinning hair. It sounds promising, but I haven’t tried it yet.
5- Bio Beauty by Nuxe Tinted Repairing Lip Balm in Raspberry Pulp – I really like Nuxe products, and I previously purchased a lip balm that I loved from Nuxe so I wanted to try this out. I was intrigued that it is a tinted repairing lip balm. I’ve tried it once and it’s quite a creamy texture and it’s surprisingly very pigmented.
6- Vichy Dermablend Corrective Stick in Opal 15 – I’ve always been a fan of this brand. I’ve tried a similar corrective stick and absolutely love it. It has SPF30, it’s non-comodegenic, hypo-allergenic, and paraben-free. It doesn’t quite get better than that! I like concealers or foundations that don’t clog your pores and make you break out. This is especially good for acne-prone skin because it will conceal your imperfections without breaking you out.
I also passed by the flagship Sephora store in Champs-Elysees. Here’s what I picked up…
1- Formula X Nail Polish in Illustrious – I love mint green so I had to pick up this shade. It reminded me of Essie’s Absolutely Shore but this one has a slight shimmer to it. I wanted to try Formula X nail polishes since I haven’t seen them in the region.
2- Sephora Express Nail Polish Remover – I know this product is available in Bahrain, but I bought it while I was there to change my nail polish.
3- Andrea Fulerton Nail Boutique Nail Pens in White & Silver – These are nail art pens with a thin felt tip so it will be fun to try this.
4- Andrea Fulerton Nail Boutique Nail Stickers – Tiny heart locks and key nail stickers? Too cute to resist! Can’t wait to try them.
5- Garancia Diabolique Water Cream – I heard about this award-winning serum from Lisa Eldridge, one of the best make-up artists. I trust her advice because she takes good care of her skin, as well as her clients. She also lived in Paris so she must know most of the best brands. This water cream claims to be 24-hour moisturizing, along with anti-aging and radiance actives. I’ve started using this product and I love that it instantly adds a glow to my skin and I especially love the light texture. This ‘devilishly pulpy’ product is naturally orange (from the tomato) and is paraben-free and phenoxyethanol-free.
6- Sampar Equalizing Foam Peel – I was searching for a mud mask when a saleswoman came up to me to introduce this product to me. She told me to leave it on my skin for 5 minutes as a mask and that it would improve my skin instantly. I wasn’t super convinced but I thought I’d give it a try since it’s a French brand. I used it a few times and I’ll see if it delivers amazing results.
7- NARS Bronzer in Laguna – This bronzer is definitely a cult favorite. I haven’t used it in a few years and decided to try it out again. I really love how glowy my skin looks with this bronzer. It’s no wonder it’s a beauty guru must-have!
8- Laduree Les Merveilleuses Blusher Case and Pressed Cheek Color in #9 – I was definitely interested in trying out Laduree’s make-up. The blusher case and the pressed blushers are separately packaged (which is handy for refills). At first glance, I fell in love with the packaging. Even the design on the blush is adorable! I almost don’t want to use it so that the design doesn’t get ruined! Surprisingly, the blush is actually really pigmented and gives a great matte finish. I opted for a raspberry shade because it’s a color I know I don’t already have in my collection.
Sabon is one of my favorite brands. I have to visit Sabon at Le Marais whenever I’m in Paris. I can’t get enough of their products! You may recognize some of these products from my June Favorites.
1- Shower Oil in Patchouli Lavender Vanilla – This shower oil smells amazing and makes my skin smooth and supple!
2- Girlfriends Body Lotion & Room Diffuser Gift Set – I loved the fresh, sweet scent so I bought this as a gift. Some of the other products are also gifts.
3- Body Dew in Magical Moments – This is like body oil spray. It’s alcohol and oil-free, which is great because you can spray it anywhere on your body. I love the refreshing and fruity scent for the summer. I love spraying it onto my skin after a shower.
4- Rose Tea Body Scrub – I’ve tried other body scrubs from Sabon so I know this one will be a hit as well!
5- Body Butter in Patchouli Lavender Vanilla – This body butter is made with pure Shea butter, coconut oil and cocoa butter. I love massaging this body butter onto my skin after a shower. The body butter is moisturizing and as a bonus the scent lingers onto my skin! The packaging is cute too – but I just wish it came with a small spatula because I don’t really like digging my fingers into the product.
I also couldn’t resist entering LUSH when I spotted it in Le Marais. I know, I just recently bought a lot of products from there, but I wanted to see if there were any products unavailable in the Middle East. I ended up buying just a couple of products (see I can practice restraint at times).
1- Buvard Moisturizer (in English it’s Enzymion) – This moisturizer claims to give combination or oily skin a matte finish. It’s also a great base under make-up. I purchased this moisturizer because the salesman recommended I mix it with the skin tint for better coverage.
2- Skin Tint in Beige Fonce (in English it’s Dark Beige) – I tried this skin tint at the store and really like how moisturizing and lightweight it felt, and I was impressed with the coverage. It feels thicker and fuller coverage than a BB cream.
3- Sex Bomb Bath Bomb – This is one of LUSH’s best selling bath bombs. Containing jasmine, clary sage and ylang ylang, this bath bomb smells divine and makes your bath relaxing and special.
4- BIG Conditioner – I’m a huge fan of the BIG shampoo and was thrilled when I found out they had it as a conditioner (which I hadn’t previously seen in the Middle East). I already started using this conditioner and I can tell that it makes a big difference in my hair (pun intended).
5- LUSH’s Kiss Me Lip Balm – I received this lip balm as a tester and really loved how soft it made my lips. It’s such a shame that I tried it when I was already in Bahrain! I will purchase it on my next trip!
6- Jasmine & Henna Fluff Eaze – I was given this hair mask as a tester and still haven’t tried it yet.
I just had to share another photo of this haul with the Petit Palais golden doors in the background… how stunning is it?!
