I’m not a health or fitness expert, but I try to be healthy as much as I can (even though I’m a total sweet tooth!) Some people are scared of the term ‘healthy’ and don’t really know what it means. I’m against fad diets and weight loss pills. What I recommend instead is making small changes in your lifestyle that will benefit you in the long run.
Here are easy tips to be healthy and hopefully change your lifestyle!
1- Eliminate soda from your diet. I know, most people can’t have a meal without drinking soda. But it’s really terrible for you. I can’t remember how long it’s been but I stopped drinking soda for a couple of years now. I only drink it occasionally (once or twice a year) and it’s usually Shirley Temple.
2- Drink water. LOTS of it! I know you’ve probably heard this a million times, but I can’t emphasize enough on hot important it is to drink water. Staying hydrated is the best thing you can do for maintaining your weight, keeping your organs clean and healthy, and keeping your skin clear. You should be drinking at least 6-8 glasses of water.
3- Do some kind of physical activity a few times a week. By physical activity, I don’t just mean exercising at the gym. You can go for a walk or jog a couple of times a week, play a sport, take a dance class, or go for a swim. There are endless types of activities you can do that will keep you fit and healthy. I like to exercise at the gym, but I also like to do other fun activities such as Zumba. Aim to work out at least three times a week.
4-Get some beauty sleep! We all know sleep is important, but did you know a good night’s sleep can help you maintain your weight and health? When you’re sleep deprived, you’re more likely to drink coffee that’s filled with sugar, or eat unhealthy foods as a ‘pick-me-up.’ When you stay up late you’re also more likely to eat a heavy meal at night. When you’re tired, listen to your body and sleep earlier.
5- Try to follow the 80-20 rule. Eat healthy 80% of the time and treat yourself 20% of the time. This is a great way to consume less junk but not deprive yourself.
I try to live by these tips as much as I can. I hope these tips inspire you and show you the simple ways to be healthier!
